A FRENCH-ICELANDIC ENCOUNTER AT HĂ–FN... the 29th of May 2011

We were celebrating Heidi Strand and Matthias Kristiansen's two months residency (until the 31st of May) at HĂ–FN.
Ilt was some kind of a "buffet-lunch and meeting" for about 30 guests.
We all met and enjoyed the afternoon on our verdant terrace...

- At Noon: Hugs and kisses, tasting and eating, chance- or deliberate- encounters around a glass of wine or two olives...
All, (children and grown-ups) were the creators of this aleatoric choregraphy in the shade of wisterias, climbing vine, plane and locust trees...

- At about 3 p.m : We gathered around Heidi and Matthias (who do not speak French!) to share with them a special time:
First: Matthias reading six poems among the sixty (!) he wrote those last two months, and Dominique Poulain's translation (perilous attempt!!)
Then an open discussion between all, nourished with everybody's questions to Matthias and Heidi
(mainly: WHAT'S TRANSLATING? From a foreign language into one's own?
But what about the other way around ?
Who is Einar Már Guðmundsson?
This Icelandic author's facets and writing that Heidi and Matthias were translating from Icelandic into Norwegian during there staying at HĂ–FN?
Dominique Poulain did her best playing the part of the translator.
